One hundred percent recyclable: Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA)

PMMA is a durable and sustainable product that is 100 percent recyclable. When heated under suitable conditions, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) breaks down into its original monomer, methylmethacrylate (MMA); this process,, known as depolymerization, is used industrially to revert PMMA back to its reusable monomer - MMA. PMMA can also be reground, melted, and extruded into new products, making thethe recycled material ready for reuse. This not only saves raw materials, but also reducing waste.

Trinseo’s Recycling Solutions of Thermoplastics

As a specialty materials and sustainable solutions provider, Trinseo is equipped with plastic waste collection and recycling capabilities on thermoplastics. Recycling is conducted in-house at our Utrecht recycling site in the Netherlands or partnering recycling sites in Europe and around the world. Trinseo’s technical experts partner with clients to produce recycled materials based on their specifications in accordance with industry standards. The end-results are circular raw materials of the highest grade suitable for top-end products. Besides recycling of plastics, Trinseo also produces and distributes granulates and (semi-finished) products based on its collected and recycled plastic waste.
